A boring old sweater, revamped with lots of buttons!
Blogged: bugsandfishes.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-to-button-sweater....
Just finished a commission for two Coraline dolls, my brother asked me to do them for my sister in law as a birthday present and I had less then a month to order supplies and get them done, to say that it was rather stressful and these dolls battled me all the way is an understatement!!! I am so glad they are finished and I can get back to being a semi normal person :P

I have been seeing button flowers around for ages and have always LOVED them, as my sister did when I suggested them instead of fresh flowers. Out came our stashes once more and 200 stems were made.
Seriously though, ladies who make these into bouquets must be MAD!! They took ages!!! Or maybe I am must too bloody fussy when it comes to colours and making sure they all looked 'just right'!!
"Cute as a Button!" also "Bright as a Button!" are both 19th century popular phrases. Although the origins of the first are harder to understand than the second (brass buttons are bright) both of these phrases came to mind when I found our latest daguerreotype addition. I find this little man both cute and bright even though he moved his head a bit during the exposure. Love the painted background with the light rays around his head and the strange rows of buttons on his shirt.

Barred Button Quail (Turnix suscitator) is a buttonquail, one of a small family of birds which resemble, but are unrelated to, the true quails. Found in most habitats except dense forest and desert. Feeds on insects and seeds, and is reluctant to fly. The female is polyandrous. The female is the brighter of the sexes, initiates courtship and builds the ground nest. Eggs are incubated by the male who also tends the young, which can run as soon as they are hatched. The hen goes off to acquire another husband, Captured at Yala National Park, Sri Lanka
Went button hunting today ... in our city of 110,000 people I had a hard time finding any retailer who sell them! These are from Walmart's craft section. I remember the "good old days" of fabric stores with walls full of buttons ... and once I met a button-maker from Germany. I guess everyone Internet shops these days ... but I'll just keep on with my old fashioned button-hunt!

for some reason this makes me think of a boutonierre? Most of the roses are done here now but I just had a red one pop out of its bud this past weekend... so they persist!
