Imagine what it would be like to go to lectures in a room with stuff like this all over the walls and ceiling!
It looks as if some kind of Frenkensteinian experiment is taking place here but it's only the Bodleian Library in HDR.
Radcliffe Camera 1737-48. Built at a cost of £40,000 donated by the charitable trust of John Radcliffe, a wealthy physician to William III. It was the first round library in the country. The rotunda was originally the idea of the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor but the work was interpreted by James Gibbs. It has one of the finest Classical interiors in England with the plasterwork in the upper room particularly excellent. Radcliffe Square (Bodleian Library), OX1 3BG
I don't like the architecture in Oxford. Well, some of it is okay... but basically it is beige and blocky.
Rachel and I were colleagues at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited between 2004 and 2014. We were both Directors in Global HR (later Global Talent) and shared many adventures over the years. On Sunday, May 29, 2016 my son and I went to meet with her, her husband Chris and their son Max in Oxford, UK, where they were visiting with Rachel's sister. It was great to catch up with them...just a pity that time was so tight, and that they live in the USA. These are photos from our brief walk around Oxford. A fine day!
