We had another Flickr Meetup today. It was organised in a spur of a moment, and I think all of us who attended it will never regret it. After the whole day of snowfall yesterday, we woke up into a winter dreamland this morning. This was probably also the coolest day in the past year with only -22 degrees Celsius or so. Photography under such conditions was a whole new experience too. My breath, which I couldn't hold for too long, froze on the camera immediately which made it very hard if not impossible to compose and focus.

The Marriage of Desire and Intoxination

According to legend, the Ganja plant and the Mahua tree are husband and wife. They were human beings once, lovers who could not marry because they came from different castes. Refusing to be separated, they went deep into the jungle and took their own lives. They were re-born as plants on the spot where they died. Seeing the beauty of their love, Shankar Bhagwan, the creator, named the Ganja and Mahua, cannabis and alcohol.

In a vibrant celebration of faith, a 51-foot statue of Lord Ram was inaugurated at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga. Here's what the internet had to say

In a historic moment for the Indian diaspora in Canada, the tallest statue of Lord Ram in North America was unveiled on Sunday at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Towering at an impressive 51 feet (excluding the pedestal and umbrella), the fibreglass idol now stands as a spiritual and cultural landmark in the Greater Toronto Area.

The unveiling of North America’s tallest Lord Ram statue in Mississauga sparked emotional reactions across social media. “From Ayodhya to Ontario, the name of Shri Ram echoes louder than borders. This is not just a statue, it's a statement of faith and identity standing tall across the world,” wrote one user. Another noted, “Toronto, Canada: The tallest Murti of Bhagwan Shri Ram now stands tall in Mississauga — a proud moment for the global Hindu community. In a land where Hindus have faced rising hostility from fringe Khalistani elements, this Murti is more than a symbol of faith — it’s a statement of resilience, peace, and presence. Sanatan stands tall.” Others chimed in with messages like, “Let’s make Canada great again,” and, “Grand and beautiful.”

Constructed in Delhi and assembled by skilled craftsmen in Canada, the statue draws inspiration from the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Built with a steel superstructure and designed to last at least 100 years, the idol is engineered to endure wind speeds of up to 200 km/hr—symbolising not just devotion, but durability.

“This is a spiritual gift to the community,” said Acharya Surinder Sharma Shastri, founder of the Hindu Heritage Centre. “The installation of this murti is not just a moment of pride, but also a reminder that righteousness must always be the guiding factor in our lives.”

The monumental project began four years ago and was made possible by a generous donation from an Indo-Canadian business leader. For Kushagr Sharma, principal organiser of the event, the turnout was deeply moving. “To witness over 10,000 people come together in devotion and unity for the unveiling of Shri Ram’s 51-foot-tall murti was truly remarkable. This event was not just a celebration of our faith, but a proud moment for all Canadians who value cultural harmony and spiritual heritage.”

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rama:

Rama is a major deity in Hinduism. He is worshipped as the seventh and one of the most popular avatars of Vishnu. In Rama-centric Hindu traditions, he is considered the Supreme Being. Also considered as the ideal man (maryāda puruṣottama), Rama is the male protagonist of the Hindu epic Ramayana. His birth is celebrated every year on Rama Navami, which falls on the ninth day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the lunar cycle of Chaitra (March–April), the first month in the Hindu calendar.

For two years, the school building served as a home to followers of the Bhagwan.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora:

The passion in passion flower refers to the passion of Jesus in Christian theology; the word passion comes from the Latin passio, meaning 'suffering'. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spanish Christian missionaries adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus and especially his crucifixion:

The pointed tips of the leaves were taken to represent the Holy Lance.

The tendrils represent the whips used in the flagellation of Christ.

The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles (excluding St. Peter, who denied Jesus three times, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him).

The flower's radial filaments, which can number more than a hundred and vary from flower to flower, represent the crown of thorns.

The chalice-shaped ovary with its receptacle represents the Holy Grail.

The three stigmas represent three nails and the five anthers below them five hammers or five wounds (four by the nails and one by the lance).

The blue and white colors of many species' flowers represent Heaven and Purity.

In addition, the flower is open for three days, symbolising the three years of Jesus' ministry.

The flower has been given names related to this symbolism throughout Europe since the 15th century. In Spain, it is known as espina de Cristo ('thorn of Christ'). Older Germanic names include Christus-Krone ('Christ's crown'), Christus-Strauss ('Christ's bouquet'), Dorn-Krone ('crown of thorns'), Jesus-Lijden ('Jesus' passion'), Marter ('passion') or Muttergottes-Stern ('Mother of God's star').

Outside the Roman Catholic heartland, the regularly shaped flowers have reminded people of the face of a clock. In Israel they are known as "clock-flower" (שעונית) and in Greece as "clock plant" (ρολογιά); in Japan too, they are known as tokeisō (時計草, 'clock plant'). In Hawaiian, they are called lilikoʻi; lī is a string used for tying fabric together, such as a shoelace, and liko means 'to spring forth leave'.

In India, it is known as Krishnakamala because of its dark violet blue colour which resembles Bhagwan Krishna.

Sri Naganathaswamy Temple or Rahu Sthalam is one of the 9 Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu and is associated to Lord Rahu (Raaghu Bhagvan). Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is located at Tirunageswaram, which is 7 km east of Kumbakonam on the Kumbakonam - Nannilam Road, in Thanjavur District, Tamilnadu. The main presiding deity of Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple is Lord Naganathaswamy (Lord Shiva) and his consort Giri Gujambika (Goddess Parvathi) who is enshrined with Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati by Her side. Rahu Bhagavan is seen with his two consorts Nagavalli and Nagakanni. Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is one where Lord Shiva was worshipped by Rahu (Raghu) and got relived of a curse. A unique feature of Naganatha Swamy temple is that Lord Rahu is seen with human face. While in other places, Lord Raaghu is worshipped with a serpent face.

Temple Features

Occupying a vast area, the Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple has vast prakarams, towering gopurams, and several mandapams. There are four entry towers with fort like walls which surround the outermost prakaram.

The Vinayaga temple, Balibeedam, Nandeeswarar Mandabam and Thwaja Sthambam (Flag post) are seen on the eastern gateway. Lord Ragu’s idol is placed in the south-west corner. The southern side of the temple has a water head with four Mandaps, surrounded by a 100 pillar Mandap in a temple-car style. The mandap is decorated by artistic pillars in all directions. The Dwarapalaga Sudhai work (made of Chunam clay) on each side at the entrance is an attractive feature of the temple.

There are twelve sacred water heads in this place, namely, Suriya Pushkarani, Gowthama Theertham, Parasara Theertham, Indira Theertham, Prugu Theertham, Kannuva Theertham and Vasishta Theertham. Suriya Pushkarani is inside the temple compound and is very sacred. The theertham is built in Chola style and is in square shape with 'double-bat' roofing. Legend says that the mythological serpents Aadi Seshan, Dakshan and Kaarkotakan worshipped Shiva here.

Effects of Rahu Bhagavan

Rahu Bhagwan is said to be the cause for one's good position, status, business, faithfulness, winning over opposition, to travel overseas, and for mantra power. It is believed that by doing Milk abishekam here for Rahu during Rahu kalam (period of 1 and 1/2 hours occurring every day) the delay in getting married, childlessness, trouble some married life, ill-effects of Kalasarpa Dhosha (affliction), Kalasthra Dhosha and, Sarpa Dhosha are all cured.

Special Feature

An important aspect of Rahu Temple at Thirunageswaram is that during milk abhishekam, the milk when poured over the idol, turns Blue which is clearly visible. Large numbers of devotees throng here for performing this. On every occasion of Rahu switching over to next Raasi (Rasi) which happens once in one and half years in anti-clockwise, special Abishekam with Homam is performed at Sri Arulmigu Naganathaswamy Temple. Lord Rahu is taken in procession in Sesha Vahanam.

Built in an art deco style, yet with Indian motifs, it echos past eras of the large movie palaces that were built in the 1920's and 30's even though it actually opened in 1976. It's said to be the largest single screen cinema in Asia with state-of-the-art sound and projection. They show the biggest releases from Bollywood and Hollywood.

“One should realise that the entities evolved out of the three gunas of mãyã, namely the five bhuts, the indriyas, the antahkaran and their presiding deities are never present in God at any time – past, present or future. Also, one should interpret the other part of that verse, ‘धाम्ना स्वेन सदा निरस्तकुहकं’ as follows: God, via His own form – ‘dhãm’ *1 – destroyed the deception in the form of the products of mãyã; such is the supremely satya form of God. Moreover, just as the form of God in Akshardhãm is resplendent with countless divine powers and divine light at the end of ãtyantik-pralay, one should realise exactly the same regarding the manifest God in human form. One who realises this is said to have known God perfectly.” *

Footnote *1 - Here ‘dhãm’ should be interpreted to mean ‘divine light’. 'Dhãm word here describes Glory of God. The darkness of mãya can be dispelled by God's Mãhãtmya (Understanding Greatness). In genereal sense dhãm word is used for Aksharbrahman. Aksharbrahman also can dispell the darkness of mãya. Thus one can take word dhãm as Aksharbrahman too.

This is the high point of a hike/scramble to the domes directly above Corona Arch. If you think I came here for the view, you are only partially correct, as my main goal was to transcend the limitations of Earthly existence. In other words, I was hoping to achieve Enlightenment.

In keeping with the incoherent teachings of my spiritual guru, the Bhagwan Hotair Windbag of Antelope, I am in full-body contact with the rock, hoping to channel its psychoramic penumbra through my body so that I might achieve a Higher Plane of Existence. But why here? The answer is clear: the rock is Moabian sandstone, the mineral possessing wondrous powers (and thus the best medium for seeking Cosmic Knowledge). By lying in this position for 7.1 hours without moving in the slightest, I was able to rid my mind of all Earthly thoughts and approach Nirvana. I was hoping to get all the way to Nirvana, but was thwarted in my attempt by a vicious irony. Let me explain.

You see, my curvature was maintained in honor of Corona Arch, which is behind and about 200 feet (60m) below me. But as the Bhagwan says (on page 1348 of "The Sacred Paths to Oneness"), when honoring a sandstone arch, one should be as high as possible. As is plainly evident, I was not on the highest ground, which is about ten feet (3m) behind me. The added elevation---about three feet (0.9m)---would have validated my attempt, but my lying there would have placed me closer to the precipice of Bootlegger Canyon, and that would have caused an unpleasant level of agitation based on my fear of heights. Agitation interferes with attempts to rid the mind of Earthly thoughts, so positioning myself at the summit would have rendered my effort completely wasted. Thus I had to temper my idealism so that I might have at least a minimum of success in seeking Blessed Awareness. As you might expect, this compromise produced only a much-reduced capability for Enlightenment: for a brief moment I understood why the closing of a Ziploc bag does not generate harmful amounts of static electricity.

With that sense of mental enhancement I finished my lunch and retraced my steps to the trailhead. I wonder if it is permitted to seek Enlightenment when under the influence of calming medication…

Shamalaji or Shamlaji or Śāmalājī - શામળાજી - शामलाजी is one of the largest pilgrim temples in Modasa, Aravalli district, Gujarat, India. It is more commonly known among locals as Dhodi Dhwaja Wada, because it always has a white silk flag fluttering on top. The temple has a sculpture of Lord Krishna as Shamdiya bhagwan, with a piece of real diamond embossed on his chin.

The importance of the digit ‘1’.

A long row of zeros has no value, but when a single ‘1’ is placed before the zeros, the value of the composite figure is exponentially increased with each zero.

As it is mentioned here, I imagined this above picture as the series of zero while I was reading this Vachnamrut today morning, and then imagined the low row of "0" as "mayik sukh" (material happiness) and imagined the "1" as "Akshardham nu Sukh" (Happiness in God's Abode.)

everything feels so certain and doubtless at this beginning - to see through eternity and never feeling to abandon the divine kindness. under these feet, a large network felt for every step taken - to inhabit within, compose them and always be gracefully in love, at ease. the very source of all the wonders, to meet this moment is portal to everlasting peace 💛

Jai Ganga Maa Har Ki Pauri (Hindi: हर की पौड़ी) is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This revered place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. Literally, "Har" means "Lord Shiva" who is the god according to shaivite Rishav Bhagwan school of Hindu theology, "Ki" means "of" and "Pauri" means "steps". Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are believed to have visited the Brahmakund in Har Ki Pauri in the Vedic times. There is a large footprint said to belong to Lord Vishnu on a stone wall.
