Der Oktober verabschiedete sich in seiner schönsten Pracht!
Es war reine Freude, durch diese bunten Weinberge im noch warmen Sonnenschein zu wandern und sich vom Feuerwerk der Farben verzaubern zulassen.
Der leichte Dunstschleier ist typisch für die späten Herbsttage
in der Rheinebene.
Ich wünsche allen ein Schönes Wochenende :-)

A day tour took us to this idyllic spot, and I thought about how lucky the people who live nearby are. The view was incredible—pristine and so charming.
You can see some people standing amongst the lavender at the top of the photo where the cars are parked. People are asked not to go in amongst the lavender as it's a farmer's field and this is their crop to be harvested and sold. What those in the photo are doing is not too bad but just a bit further on there were hordes of people standing and posing in lavender fields, some with professional photographers and props including changes of clothes in a campervan and different big floppy hats, etc. I'd like to think that all the 'models' were there for their perfect lavender shot for Instagram and not us more thoughtful photographers of Flickr! :-)
Walking through one of the colorful vine paths along 'La route des vins d'Alsace' - the 'Alsace Vine Route' was a real pleasure.
It offers lovely views to the Vosges mountains and the picturesque villages.
And to finish a wonderful autumn day - and almost indispensable- was a visit in one of the authentic "Winstub's" where a glass of 'Riesling' wine and a traditional "Flammekueche" ( Tarte Flambée) are served.
Always great, to visit this nearby wonderful french neighbourhood, situated at the opposite side of of the Rhine River.

Durch die goldenen Weinberge entlang der elsässischen Weinstraße zu wandern, ist ein Vergnügen.
Es bieten sich herrliche Ausblicke auf die malerischen Dörfer mit ihren Weinbergen am Fuß der Vogesen.
Fast unverzichtbar zum Abschuß eines so schönen Tages ist der Besuch einer authentischen 'Winstub', in der 'Elsässer Flammkuchen' mit einem Glas Riesling serviert wird.
Es ist immer wieder etwas Besonderes, diese nahegelegene französische Nachbarschaft auf der gegenüber liegenden Seite des Rheins zu besuchen.

Looking to the west across the Strait of Juan de Fuca towards the Olympic Mountains and Port Angeles from the bluffs at Dungeness, I am so grateful for the beauty of my little corner of the world, the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state.

La douceur et la lumière caractérisent le Luberon pays de châteaux mais aussi de villages haut perché, hauts en couleurs avec des falaises d’ocre, d’or et de sang, haut en saveurs avec ses fruits confits.
Au sud, c'est le Petit Luberon, très varié dans son relief et sa végétation, c'est un site de falaises rocheuses et de combes sauvages où la faune trouve un biotope favorable. Lauris c'est l'un de les plus beau villages du Sud-Luberon.

Lauris - This beautiful village sits atop a rocky ridge between the Durance and the Luberon mountain. Perched on its cliff, Lauris offers an amazing view across the Durance valley, the Alpilles and the Luberon.
Like the figurine on the prow of a ship the XVIII° Century chateau rises straight from the rock and dominates superb hanging gardens where pools and lakes have kept all their charm.

Lauris befindet sich im Süden des Départements Vaucluse im Tal der Durance.
Beim Besuch kommt man in ein malerisches Dorf mit verwinkelten Gassen, alten Häusern (16. und 17. Jh.) und schönen Hinterhöfen, was dem Dorf einen besonderen Charme verleiht. Sehenswert der Kirchturm der über einen der schönsten schmiedeeisernen Glockenaufsätze in der Region verfügt.
Hoch über dem Dorf thront das alte Schloss aus dem 18. Jh. Von seiner Terrasse, heute ein Restaurant, hat man einen weiten Blick in das Tal der Durance. Im Hof haben sich einige Künstler niedergelassen, die hier ihre Werke präsentieren. Von diesem Hof aus kann man über eine direkte Treppe in den Jardin Conservatoire des plantes tinctorales gehen. In ihm sind über 250 Pflanzenarten aus aller Welt. Aus ihnen werden pflanzliche Farben für Lebensmittel, Kosmetik usw. gewonnen.

~Sun, ocean, farm, and animals, what more could you want? ~
This is my relative's farm purchased just recently. The farm has an area of fifty hectares with flocks of sheep guarded by alpacas. I hope to take pictures of animals next time I travel there. From Melbourne, it takes approx.2 hours to drive there.
