One of the reasons for coming to the National Park so early in the year (it was freezing at night, and most of the time in the day as well) was to see Joshua Trees in flower. This was the first one we spotted.
Joshua Tree National Park. Built by early cattle farmers for watering heards. Now a rare lake that supports non-desert species and attracts migrating birds.
This pic has "Barker camp 1960" written on it. I thought the little kids were my brothers in the pic, but my brother Tom says it isn't.
Joanna Barker performed an opening set with her band for Jenn Grant this evening down at The Rockhouse. It was a pretty good Sunday night show. I got down an hour early so I took a little stroll around the downtown area before the sets started.
