The Ballinagar Festival 10KM Road Race was held at Ballinagar, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 18:30 on Friday 17th August. The race had originally been scheduled for June but had to be called off due to torrential rain. Tonight was almost a carbon copy as a very heavy and prolonged shower of rain fell at the begining of the race. However given the very mild temperatures of over 20C all of the runners found the late August rain a very welcome assistance. The course took a clockwise route on the Edenderry Tullamore road making it's way back to Ballingar via Annaharvey. All in all the small crowd of runners who attended enjoyed the race and the course was a nice and fair 10KM course. Congratulations to the local organising committee on their work in such bad weather.

Can Do Canines graduated 17 assistance teams at our facility in New Hope on October, 22, 2016. Clients received diplomas in recognition of graduating from Can Do Canines assistance dog program and the dogs received âdoggie diplomasâ (Nylabones). Various breeds of assistance dogs that graduated help people with a variety of disabilities such as diabetes, seizure response, hearing loss, mobility and autism.
The Graduation Ceremony represents the culmination of a long journey for the assistance dogs and their partners. Beginning with puppy raisers, either in the homes of volunteers or at one of four Minnesota prisons, the dogs are reared and taught basic obedience and early assistance dog skills. After 18 months, theyâre returned to Can Do Canines for final training and to begin their new life with a person in need, free of charge.
