The view looking west towards Ransomes Way in Chelmsford (UK) in 2011. The building in the foreground are the student accomodation of the Anglia Ruskin University. The houses in the background are in Henry Road. The design of of most these has changed considerably as the street was badly damaged in bombings during world war 2. Use the gap between the houses and the chimney pot as a reference point on this one and view in 1917.
It's all part of the former site of Ransome Hoffmann Pollard Manufacturing Comany (RHP)

The building in the centre is one of Chelmsford's tallest buildings, the 141.04 feet high Kings Tower at Marconi Plaza.
The building was designed so all the apartments caught the Sun at least one a day (weather permitting) and looked like a bow of a ship both ends.

The Grade II listed 'Anne Knight Building' in Duke Street in Chelmsford (UK).
The former Quaker Meeting House was built in 1824 and was renamed after Quaker and feminist pioneer Anne Knight in 1957.
The building formed part of the Chelmsford Institute of Higher Education , Anglia Polytechnic University and Anglia Ruskin University central campus site for many years.
The building is shown here undergoing renovation and will form an integral part of the new development which replaced the University buildings under construction directly behind in Park Road.

This is the view from Duke Street from opposite the railway station. Looks like this could be the main pedestrian entrance to the development when its finished.

The luxury apartment building in the centre is the 142 feet high Kings Tower at Marconi Plaza which opened in 2007. The Kings Tower was designed so each apartment caught the sun at least one a day (weather permitting) and looked like a bow of a ship both ends.

The new bicycle sheds adjacent to Chelmsford Railway Station in Essex (UK) in July 2013.
Not entirely sure if these are to supplement the existing cycle areas at the station or to replace them. Probably the latter.. They might even be for the new development under construction in Park Road. Either way this area was used as a free for all car park. That now seems lost..

The Victoria Road South view of the nearly completed construction at the City Park West development in the City of Chelmsford in the County of Essex (UK).
This residential building is being built on the former site of the Chelmsford Technical College, Chelmsford Institute of Higher Education , Anglia Polytechnic University and finally the Anglia Ruskin University.
Note Parkview House which is occupied by the Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance Company Ltd. on the left. The Frederick Chancellor building on the right was built in 1906.

Urban sprawl in the newish "City Park West' development on the former site of the Chelmsford Technical College, Chelmsford Institute of Higher Education , Anglia Polytechnic University and finally the Anglia Ruskin University central campus in the City of Chelmsford in the County of Essex (UK).
On the top left is the 14 storey 'Norman Court' while in the centre is the identical in height 'Kings Tower'. Both of these skyscrapers appear numerous times on my photostream.
Note the Great Eastern Main Line railway viaduct right in the centre along with Class 66 diesel locomotive 66587.

Opened in 1962 as the Chelmsford Technical College and later part of the Anglia Ruskin University central campus, this building in Victoria Road South is now fenced off and doomed for demolition to make way for another hair brained redevelopment scheme by the Borough Council.
