UPDATE MAR 2020
Still current in revised livery, I don't actually have a proper photo, in the back here at home base Porpoise Bay Sechelt. www.flickr.com/photos/23870098@N04/49660526231/in/photoli... Delivered to the US Air Force as an L-20A as 51-16503, re-designated U-6A in 1962 then a TU-6A. Retired Apr 1965 and stored as Davis Monthan AFB, to Fairchild Aircraft & Engine in Apr 1966 and back to the USAF in Thailand in the Jul and retired again Jun 1967 and transferred to the Army. Acquired by the Civil Air Patrol as N5149G in May 1971, allocated C-GYOI Dec 1976 but not registered until Mar 1983 with Silver Pines Air Service with a PZL radial conversion by AirTech Canada. Registered to them the same month under 371892 Ontario, ended up in Peru as OB-M-1275 with Alas de Esperanza in the June, the M was deleted in Nov 1988, but quite how operational it was past 1985 I don't know. Back to Canada with this reg in Jun 1993 with 154222 Canada, and Mid Coast Air Services Jul 1995. N66PL was assigned, but never taken up, it lost the PZL engine and joined Tofino Air in Dec 1999. To Sunshine Coast Aug 2015.
This was the first outing of my Sound of Singles class race bike at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. It is of my own design and construction. The design was inspired by Colin Seeley's MK3 GP bike. I built the frame with chromoly tube which was brazed using Rob North's gas fluxing brazing rig in my garage. I also designed and built the tank(s) and bellypan. It now has an Airtech upper fairing. In my first race I "got the holeshot" but was later passed by two bikes and took third. In the second race of the weekend I won and took home the big trophy!
