The movers are gone and all is quiet on the home-front. This fancy hibiscus floating in the pool greeted me when I stepped out into the yard to take in the late afternoon sunshine.
All our personal belongings with the exception of what we can carry in our suitcases are on their way to the US. The furniture, which was included with the house sale is still here so we won't have to actually camp out for the next week or so.

Sustained Investigation: How does having a limited number of shots affect your photos?
Materials: The materials are the bay bridge, a pier, treasure island, and a San Francisco Fire Department boat on the bay.
Idea: By shooting film I was actively interpreting my investigation. Each shot costs about 50 cents and I had a limit of 36 shots in that specific roll, (rolls range between 12-36 shots). Every shot counts so I took my time.
Process: I was using Fujifilm 200 which is a moody, green and blue film. Reds pop with this film stock and big the photos a lot of contrast. It was gloomy day and this being a red boat was perfect for the look I was going for.
Another "under the canoe" image, this time the lily pads are seen in their normal position floating on the surface of the water. Note the pale blue rims around the edges of the pads where the light passes directly to the camera without being reflected. That's actually the blue sky overhead.
Denny: Innovation and Experimentation
“The company of William Denny & Brothers has built whole fleets of the finest vessels afloat”
The Bailie, September 1877
The Denny name has been closely associated with the town of Dumbarton since the 1800s. From small beginnings rose a significant shipbuilding firm whose vessels were distinguished, well-respected and innovative. It is this innovation which sets William Denny & Brothers aside from other Clydeside shipbuilders. The firm was always ‘one step ahead’ and was even working on the development of the hovercraft just before the shipbuilding industry took a sharp downturn, causing Denny’s yard to close its doors for the final time in 1963. This family firm will always be remembered, and its story is one which is interwoven with the development of Clydeside shipbuilding and its influence world-wide.
I joined the masses this morning and took a few shots while the tide was up. It was a let down in that high pressure wiped about a foot off the 10.3m predicted high.
This is the first of many RAWs taken so there's a few more to be worked on and uploaded. This is the Herm Trident V which has been beached for the last 2 months while some annual maintenance takes place. Given some sympathetic HDR style tonemapping rather than the totally mental variety that qtfpsgui can offer up.

I can only imagine how cold it is on one of these barges, but it looks as though the wood burner is on the go. Leeds and Liverpool canal at East Marton, North Yorkshire.
