This is the Grizzly from Action Man Mission Grizzly set. It's remote controlled, can move around and shoots missiles. The set didn't work when I bought it, but now is fixed and fully functional.
Fallschirmjagers wore distinctive scarves to identify their battalions and to demonstrate their 'elite-ness'. I took these photos to illustrate how silk ribbon could be used to represent one type of scarf.
Got this guy in the mail yesterday. He's a vintage Joe from 1964 made in Canada. Have a few of these guys, but I looked forever to get a PH Joe with black hair :)
Jaques has visions, he sees his mother waving to him on the end of the next sandhill, his father and sister are there too in their best suits drinking some fine champagne and ask him to join them. Jaques crawls towards them...
I've got some old GI Joe figures that are in rather rough condition. I call them my Franken-Joes. This was an experiment to see if I could turn them into something worth photographing. I think, by turning the photos to B&W that I will be able take some decent Vintage looking photos.
These are figures and uniforms from Hasbro's Timeless Collection. In this case, the uniforms are from the Then & Now set.
There are a lot of odd colors in the Timeless T&N Set, but the black and white photography seems to make that a lot less noticeable. Now I just need to spend a little bit more time setting up the figures for the next photo session. I'm calling this a success!
The blue channel of the image creates this B&W photo.
DML figure, grey shirt and Thompson. The suit and tie are from a 'Dr Who' Dalek Zec figure (the 12" line was pretty good, shame it's stopped now). The hat is from a fairly cheap Indiana Jones figure (I bought two, just for the hats!)
I see lonely hearts adverts as an example of supplication – a humble entreaty for love. Advertising your need for love in the Wolverhampton Chronicle is certainly humble.
"Smoke grenades are canister-type grenades used as ground-to-ground or ground-to-air signaling devices, target or landing zone marking devices, or as screening devices for unit movements. Smoke grenades are normally considered non-lethal, although incorrect use may cause death. The body consists of a sheet steel cylinder with a four emission holes on top and one on the bottom to allow smoke release when the grenade is ignited. The filler consists of 250 to 350 grams of colored (red, green, orange, gray, yellow, blue, white, black, or violet) smoke composition (mostly potassium chlorate, lactose, and a dye). The reaction is exothermic and grenade casings will often remain scalding hot for some time even after the grenade is no longer emitting smoke."
I like these kind of settings in toy brochures, reminds me of the RAH GI.Joe ones I loved so much as a kid. They are great inspiration sources for taking outdoor pics : ]
Holding position....
Bought this guy a week ago on a flea-market, and it's one of my favourite modern Action Man figures. If they made more figs like this one, I'd be much more interrested in this line. maybe that's beacause of his GI.Joe vibe, instead of being an orange coloured, enviromental tree hugging skating loonatic like usual.
This is pure nostalgia, as I had this set for Christmas one year as a small boy (this is a modern reproduction). It never struck me as odd then that the British officer (from the 17th/21st Lancers) is trying to escape from Colditz disguised as ... a British officer :-)
Mostly DML clothing and equipment, apart from the helmet, which is a GI Joe item, the only M1 helmet I had that would fit him!
The figure is DML's 'Steiner', which is obviously based on James Coburn's character in "Cross of Iron". It's a nicely grizzled headsculpt, the face of a weary veteran, and really stood out at a time when most of DML's faces were fairly bland.
