Okay sorry I could not wash out the sign, you would be surprised at how many signs I do wipe away but this sign I overlooked the position and it covered a vital piece my bad maybe a redo later in the year. Today's Wednesday Walls, a wall a week, keeps the horizons fresh!
Spent a lot of time in my twenties living in Boughton. It's about a mile from the city centre but has a village feel to it, as do a lot of the suburbs in Chester.
It still has a green grocers, a bakery and and a couple of butchers, the one I used has recently changed hands after the retirement of Mr. Philip Salt esq. but they still do a version of the Chester Roll which is like a cross between a sausage roll and a Cornish pasty.
For such a small city the accents differ wildly and I can instantly tell where someone was brought up. There is a 'Boughton twang,' the 'Saltney inflection,' and the recent influx of media types, TV presenters, celeb chefs and actors to Hoole, now known locally as Notting Hoole has changed the accent there beyond recognition.
Blacon and the Lache are often grouped together with similar accents but most Cestrians can tell the difference through colloquial phrases. Further out you get a kind of regional RP in Vicars Cross, Upton and Christleton.
This is a lesser goldfinch - a bit less colorful and smaller than the American Goldfinch. I suppose, hence the word "lesser" in front of goldfinch. I think this is a female. I kind of liked the way the red flowers contrasted her yellow plumage.

I know you probably can’t read the small red sign on this fence, but it says Accent Fence. Just what is this fence accenting? It looks like some kind of enclosure for trash or maybe a place to secure equipment. It doesn’t look like the gate can even be closed anymore. If you ask me (no one did, but since it is my picture I’ll comment anyway), there is nothing at all attractive that an accent fence could show off. There isn’t even a rose bush or colorful wildflowers, just weeds and vines.
Some of you may think it is just the name of the fence company that installed this fence. If so, they should remove the plaque because this fence is not doing the fence company any good by way of advertising IMO.

The red sandstone formations, the twisted pine trees, and the desert shrubs all work in concert to form a perfect masterpiece of nature. Even the dead trees find their way onto Ma Nature's canvas--they accent the landscape like costume jewelry on an evening gown.

A modernist Philly building at dawn, with accents provided by lights on the arch of a bridge from a different era.
A delightful curving stem accented with tiny five-petaled yellow and white flowers sitting on raised stems. I love its curve covered in buds, moving infinitely back in space... or so it seems. And imagine a row of these tall bushy shrubs covered in these curvaceous yellow sprays! A favorite spot for hummingbirds!

Tournefortia staminea was first published under the name Pittonia by Charles Plumier in 1703, in honor of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort. Later, Carl Linnaeus changed the name to Tournefortia, on the grounds that Tournefort was virtually unknown by his family name outside France. So now you've heard of him too. A lovely reminder!

Snowy Egret

Snowy Egrets grow breeding plumage consisting of extravagant tufts of white feathers on on the backs of their heads, the bases of their necks, and their tails. When engaged in courtship these birds often make showy displays of this plumage.
This beautiful plumage was almost the cause of the Snowy Egret’s extinction. In the late 19th Century egret plumes were prized as a fashion accent. Women wore them on their hats or pinned them corsage-like to their dresses. Snowy Egrets were hunted ruthlessly and slaughtered in the millions for this plumage until the species neared extinction. In 1911 (the US) Congress passed one of the first environmental protection laws, the Weeks-Mclean Law, that ended the plume trade and protected the species. This law was augmented shortly thereafter by another, stronger law, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. There was intense opposition to enactment of both laws and at least a few game wardens were shot at as they attempted to enforce them.
Back to the photographer - A Snowy is easy to spot because of their 'golden slippers'. This one was bobbing up and down in display for a long time. Hope it worked out.
