Nikon D810 Photos Pro Women's Surfing Sports Photography Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD !

I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracells took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 24mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the bright sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in Lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS, but still awesome and enough I felt!

What a beautiful way to test the Nikon D810 and Tamron 150-600mm zoom lens for sports photography!

I get asked a lot of questions (I love questions--ask away!), and one of the more common ones is "What kind of camera shoul I buy?" Begin with anything, and then, when it falls short of the beauty you are trying to capture, invest in a new one! The important thing is to think of it as buying not something for yourself, but a gift for the world, who will witness all the magnificent photos you shoot with it! Then, the next most important thing to do is to shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot! For each and every epic shot on an awesome camera helps justify its cost! I shoot with the awesome Nikon D810, Sony A7R, and now the Sony A7RII! And in the long run, the cost of the camera is a very small entity, when conpared to the cost of life and time. So buy a great camera, and then give the gift of epic photography to the world! View your artistic mission into photography as an epic odyssey of heroic poetry! Take it from Homer in Homer's Odyssey: "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Jove, from whatsoever source you may know them. " --Samuel Butler Translation of Homer's Odyssey

The arrival to the station wasn’t exactly what you call smooth but we made it. By the time we finished fighting our way through the droid patrolled corridors, the whole station was aware of our existence. As a counter measure, the droids activated massive DAS-430 projectile launchers were activated and started to track us down.

When we finally arrived at the power source of the massive weapon, my squad just had left ¼ of the initial ammo, so we had to be fast. Luckily at the power-ring room, just one DAS-430 was activated and fully functional. So we easily took it out. The not so easy part was to deactivate the ring and come out unharmed and alive.

Plinth, our squad´s tech came up with a plan, while he was hacking into the rings control functions to regulate the floss of power, Axe, the weapon specialist on the team planted some mines on the ring´s supports. After the mines were planted and the power floss was regulated, we had one more thing to do; get out of the station in 5 minutes, before all hell breaks loose…

End of transmission

I found this minty folding camera at a flea market back in 2019. It uses 120 film and features a Steinheil München Cassar 100mm f/6.3 lens in a Vario shutter. I shot one roll through it back in 2019 and am posting my favorite shot from the roll. Time to give it another spin soon, I say.

Earthships are homes ("vessels," in the words of the architect Michael Reynolds who was a prime designer) are somewhat self-sufficient when it comes to water, heating, power, and sewage. They're usually half buried on the north side for insulation, with greenhouses for food on the south side. They're off the grid and often made of recycled bottles, tires, and cans. The roof catches rainwater that's funneled into a cistern, filtered, then used for drinking water or showers. After that it's recycled for plants, then after that recycled to flush toilets. || Photo info: Taken 2020-12-20 with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, ¹⁄₈₀₀ sec at f/6.3, focal length 70 mm, ISO ISO 100. Copyright 2020 .

Epson R-D1x with Leitz Hektor 2.8cm 1:6,3 wide angle LTM lens. The Hektor has five uncoated lenses in three groups. The aperture is only 6,3.

Despite the short focal length and small aperture, sharpness is rather bad. Probably, this tiny lens doesn't perform well on a digital camera. I also tested it on a Barnack, but the film hasn't been scanned yet.

This lens delivers a rather low contrast, at least with a digital camera. Significant post-processing is required to enhance the contrast, but that reduce the detail in colour and shading. Again, I need to see what the results on film look like.

I do not see any chromatic aberration nor distortion, but then again, this test was done on a digital camera with an APC-C sensor that doesn't exploit the full FOV.

I'm slowly working my way around the car. I've moved a foot or so from the wheel (Shots here and here) to the badge on the front left wing.

I'm enjoying using the single strip box with a mask, effectively making it a 130cm x 15cm sliver of light. It brings out the shape of the body work so nicely. I also positioned the light so that it's reflection completely filled the front face of the badge.

This old office block certainly doesn't fit in with its surroundings in York, and should probably be condemned, but I always find myself drawn to it as a photographic subject.

I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracels took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 14mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! After the fight-and ultimatley defeat-of the Varli demon, we were exhausted beyond reproach. The fight had utterly drained poor Valanthe of every ounce of strength within her. It was the firt time I had ever seen her this way, and it hurt me. I knew her magicks drained her but I had no idea of its limits. Yet even with out exhuastion, we also knew hat we could not stay here and become easy picking for some of other fell beast. So Taurox carried Valanthe and we set off as fast as our tired legs could take us.

We walked, leaving behind Shardrake City, leaving behind the Northern Reaches. We continued walking untl we could no longer see the black river that was the Shardrake Highway. For at least a day and a half we walked.

Finally, in a remote area of the Aswar Plains we found the remains of an old farmhouse. Its land, once fertile and thriving was now a ravaged dustbowl. Skeltal remains of the farms livestock were littered about, long picked clean by scavengers. Taurox lay Vaane down and she was soon asleep. He offered to take up watch while we all slept but I told him that was not necessary.

"We all need rest," I told him. "I think we will be alright."

He nodded in silent assent and we were all soon asleep...

And we slept for nearly two days. We awoke to find we were all still alive and well and our gear had been undisturbed. We had a light meal and rationed out some water.

"What do we do now?" Grim asked as he sat, cleaning his weapon.

I looked to Valanthe, who shrugged her shoulders. My gaze went to Taurox, who nodded.

"It seems we have some things to discuss," he remarked.

"I agree," I said, taking a seat.

We gathered around a rusting metal barrell and talked long into the day, until at last a descion was made.
