King Tut
While we didn't get to the King Tut exhibit that's being advertised all over the place (soon to come to Denver, so we'll see it there), the Met did have a small exhibit on a tomb found near Tut's that held a lot of items used in Tut's burial procedures. For Doyce and I, it was like a trip to Krokotopia in Wizard 101, which we told my mom all about.
El pascuero. Siempre por Navidad compro con ilusión un pascuero, para mas tarde comprobar como durante esos días festivos va decayendo poco a poco hasta que finalmente muere allá por Reyes. En cambio este año no ha sido así. Observé con alegría y sorpresa que comenzaba a tener brotes nuevos, luego pequeñas hojitas hicieron su aparición, qué maravilla, me tiene enamorada. Este es mi pequeño homenaje a tan preciado regalo de la naturaleza.

When we first moved here, I was pretty dubious. We lived next to a "lifer" that I quickly dubbed (and I will fully admit that I'm not proud of this) White Trash XYZ". This label was prompted by the fact that he practically lived in his back shed while pounding back beers (with the subsequent belch), blaring music, incessently screaming at his dog to "SHUT the F*CK UP", loudly argue with his daughter and wife in a rather cruel manner and claim innocence when asked for an explanation for all the cigarette butts & beer caps that would find their way into my garden directly from his side of the fence. Oh yeah, and he lorded over the shared alley better than any dictator ever could. I could go on and on, but frankly, I've tried to block those first two years from my memory.
Now we have great neighbors on either side of us. On the one side is my dog's best friend, and you're likely to find my husband over there hanging out sharing beers. On the other are some renters who are very nice, respectful and easy to live beside. I'd say we got lucky, and I think they'd agree too. We might not be the best of friends, but we're all great neighbors, and it feels good to share an early morning hello in my pajamas and robe drinking coffee, living cheek by jowl, and not having to give a damn what the neighbors think.
