Brittas Bay is a very well known beach about 40 kilometres south of Dublin. It is famous for the sand dunes and it's sandy beach. I went down there a couple of weeks ago for the sunrise which was at 5.40 but unfortunately I did'nt realise how much of a walk it was from the main road and missed those pre-sunrise shots. I hope you enjoy this series of images.

As we drove away from the lions and lechwe, i took a few shots of the lechwe gathered under the trees in the late afternoon light. Here is an extract from my Journal of that day:
The lechwe were in three groups, and the lions worked each group in turn. Chachos set a time limit of 5:40, because we had a 90 minute drive back to Okuti Camp. We broke off our observation as the sun was about to set, the lions still on the trail of the lechwe. Chachos said the lions would make a kill after sunset because lechwe have poor night vision. The lions would approach unseen and take their quarry by surprise.
No painted dogs, no cheetah and no kill, it could have been a bad afternoon, but it was a great afternoon. We talked all the way back to camp, and we connected. What a great way to end my Botswana adventure.
Chachos offered to take me out on a short game drive first thing next morning, but I declined the offer. I'm booked on a 10 o'clock flight to Maun tomorrow morning, with a connecting flight to Johannesburg. Nothing was going to top my afternoon in the grassland with Chachos and the lions.

Had to make a trip to Denver this morning at around 1:30. Returning back to Cheyenne took a sunrise picture from the car at around 5:40. I do enjoy the sunrises and sunsets of the West.

Taraxacum officinale grows from (generally unbranched) taproots and produces several hollow, leafless flower stems: 470 that are typically 5–40 centimetres (2–15+3⁄4 inches) tall, but sometimes up to 70 cm (28 in) tall. The stems can be tinted purplish, they are upright or lax, and produce flower heads that are held as tall or taller than the foliage. The foliage may be upright-growing or horizontally spreading; the leaves have petioles that are either unwinged or narrowly winged. The stems can be glabrous or sparsely covered with short hairs. Plants have milky latex and the leaves are all basal; each flowering stem lacks bracts and has one single flower head. The yellow flower heads lack receptacle bracts and all the flowers, which are called florets, are ligulate and bisexual. In many lineages, fruits are mostly produced by apomixis,[notwithstanding the flowers are visited by many types of insects.
The leaves are 5–45 cm (2–17+3⁄4 in) long and 1–10 cm (1⁄2–4 in) wide, and are oblanceolate, oblong, or obovate in shape, with the bases gradually narrowing to the petiole. The leaf margins are typically shallowly lobed to deeply lobed and often lacerate or toothed with sharp or dull teeth.
The calyculi (the cuplike bracts that hold the florets) are composed of 12 to 18 segments: each segment is reflexed and sometimes glaucous. The lanceolate shaped bractlets are in two series, with the apices acuminate in shape. The 14–25 millimetres (1⁄2–1 in) wide involucres are green to dark green or brownish-green, with the tips dark gray or purplish. The florets number 40 to over 100 per head, having corollas that are yellow or orange-yellow in color.
The fruits, called cypselae, range in color from olive-green or olive-brown to straw-colored to grayish, they are oblanceoloid in shape and 2–3 mm (1⁄16–1⁄8 in) long with slender beaks. The fruits have 4 to 12 ribs that have sharp edges. The silky pappi, which form the parachutes, are white to silver-white in color and around 6 mm wide. Plants typically have 24 or 40 pairs of chromosomes, while some have 16 or 32 pairs.

I haven’t bothered you since the beginning of the lockdown in France (March 17) with my little " Diablotin de Provence" (Empusa larva). But it was present (at least since October 13) almost always on the same place, in a blanket flower plant of my garden. For a week, I couldn’t spot him, but it wasn’t the first time it happened.
May 9, 5:40 pm:
This afternoon, I discovered on this place this beautiful empusa imago with a straight abdomen covered with wings.
This rainy afternoon does not give favorable lighting conditions, especially since this small insect, once become imago, is more fierce than before and sinks deeply into the heart of the plant, making the automatic focusing system inoperative...
I hope the sun will be back before it flight away far from its flower blanket!!!
Since it hasn't any ‘feather’ type antennae, it's a female imago.

Every February the sun shines perfectly on this wall in Yosemite. At dusk as the sun sets, the wall lights up and looks like it is on fire. Last year there wasn't any snow or water so the falls were dry. This year the recent snows have given life to Horsetail and it is flowing nicely. Tonight the sun came through and lit up the wall.
It was a really interesting experience. One lane on both sides of the valley floor was blocked off to allow the photographers to park. I came up with the Fresno Camera Club and they set tripods to reserve their spots at 9:30 in the morning. The parking lot in this area was almost full at this hour. I went around the park and shot at different locations and came back around four in the afternoon. When I tried to park I had to drive 0.5 of a mile away from this spot and hike back to join them. Now there were around 100 photographers in this area jockeying for tripod space.
We all patiently waited for that window when the sun would put on its show. When I first arrived back, the sky was white with clouds and everyone was nervous that there wouldn't be enough light. Around 4:30 the sky cleared up and at 5:40 the show began. Everyone in the area cheered at the same time. It was really an uplifting experience hearing 100 photographers being that excited. This is probably my best shot of the night. I think in the end nature didn't disappoint us on this night.

Here, at La Fruto, on the former D&RGW San Juan extension, stands what appears to be an old freight warehouse that more than likely once received rail service long ago. The property surrounding the building is littered with derelict vehicles from past generations.

PREFACE
"SHADHINOTA is My Cause for the 40th Celebration of BANGLADESH Independence. The land, the mighty rivers and the natural beauty makes Bangladesh a land of unparalleled splendor and magnificence. Bangladesh was liberated after a prolonged war of Independence the declaration of which was given on 26th MARCH 1971. One of the worst genocides Genocide in history took place at the behest of an autocratic regime in the name of Political stability spearheaded by the then Pakistan President Yah ya Khan. After 9 months of Liberation war and the sacrifice of 3 million lives Victory came. In addition to the loss of lives countless others were rendered homeless, the infrastructure including roads and bridges and factories lay in ruins. The people of Bangladesh have shown time and again how resilient they are. After each and every disaster, natural or man-made the people have again stood up and started all over again from scratch.
My Effort here is to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the soil and the ‘die hard’ attitude of a people who can still smile in the face of adversity however great it may be. I plan to make a collage of images that represent the lives of the people of Bangladesh. I encourage you to upload a photo each day till I have a total of 40 images for the Cause SHADHINOTA in the group Frame BANGLADESH"
To be Continued till 26th March 2011

Fomapan Action 400 has a quite different look and seems to be a suitable alternative for specific intensions and photographic subjects. This classic film emulsion delivers more distinct grain, more sooty dark tones and some blooming of the highlights, which can emphasize the mood of a picture favorably. However, the sensitivity of this film emulsion seems to be lower than box speed, because the shadows tend to lose detail.
The more distinct grain results from the cubic grain structure of the emulsion. In contrast to the softer grain pattern of the tabular grain of modern films like the Ilford Delta or the Kodak TMax film series, cubic grain is more apparent. The softening effect by overexposure is said to result from a poor anti-halation layer. The light bouncing around causes halos and glowing highlights, creeping into the darker areas and tending to wash out the highlights.
The darkening of the foliage and the shadows seems to pretend the higher contrast. Fomapan Action 400 has much more sensitivity to the red end of the spectrum than in the blue and green region, so to speak a built-in orange or red filter. As a result, green leaves and shadows in general come darker in tonality. However, the contrast and graininess can both be reduced by overexposure. Meanwhile, I expose Fomapan 400 at ISO 200 (rather than rating the film at box speed) to open up the shadows for showing more detail.
This film definitely has a unique look, which is much appreciated by many photographers. Together with its deep black and the glowing highlights, Fomapan Action 400 can produce the beautiful and timeless look of classic film emulsions, different from other b&w films and quite different from digital rendering. This film and a vintage camera seem to be a good combo.

A veru som si ju neodniesol jediný, keďže nás tam bolo 14, no o to väčší zážitok.

I took this photo with the only equipment I had (my Lumix G7, without any astro mount or tripod, with a rotten lens ... well yes, I hadn't expected that I would have a small window given the forecast weather, so I only took my camera for daytime photos...). Conditions were more than average ... i.e. as worth as possible (clouds appearing at the same time as the moon). Given all of this, it's a pretty good photo.
This photo shows the snowy mount Sirac seen from the Gioberney refuge (Valgaudemar) with Jupiter shining brightly and Saturn completely to the right below.
EXIFS: 54 exposures of 13 sec, iso 1600, panasonic zoom 14-140 @14mm f/4.5+ 40/40 dark/offsets (no flats). Siril + GIMP processing. No astro tracking, the camera was just placed on a stone.
