Ricky Dene Gervais the 51 year old English comedian, actor and producer who achieved mainstream success with his television series ‘The Office’, according to Jordan Zakarin for the Hollywood Reporter “…it's safe to say that he likes to get on people's nerves, or at the very least, push their buttons. It's a large part of his comedy, pushing that socially acceptable envelope and insisting people learn to take the joke.” Zakarin states “A committed Atheist, Gervais often muses on his disbelief in god through the social media platform [Twitter]. That doesn't always sit well with his followers, who instead of deciding to unfollow him, respond back with great frustration and often, attacks. …He no longer retweets the name of his opponents -- he doesn't want to give them publicity -- but does respond, quite aggressively, to their attacks. One thing to know about Gervais: he doesn't back down. Especially because refusing to do so only helps build his brand. Win-win. Here is a sampling… 30 Sep 12 "Why do you always mock the Bibble asshole!!??" I can't believe my luck with this tweet. Hahaha 1 Oct 12 "Atheism is narcissistic" And what's the term for believing that the same God who ignored the holocaust will help you win an award? 1 Oct 12 “stop going on about religion and tweet some jokes" Fuck you. Pay me. 4 Oct 12 The Earth is 6,000 years old. Please RT to raise ignorance and confusion amongst the gullible. 5 Oct 12 "so what do you think being dead feels like?" You know what it felt like for the billions of years before you were born? Exactly like that. 5 Oct 12 Opinions don't affect facts. But facts should affect opinions, and do, if you're rational. 5 Oct 12 Complaining about what someone tweets about is like calling up the numbers in classified ads and shouting "But I don't want piano lessons!" 5 Oct 12 I love how people walk round with crucifixes, skullcaps, pointy hats, funny beards and then say "you shoud keep your atheism to yourself." 5 Oct 12 I get many tweets from Christians saying I should keep my beliefs to myself, but I never see them tweeting that to other Christians. Weird” Inspired by Jordan Zakarin ow.ly/exFQg image source Thomas Atilla Lewis ow.ly/exFBj

The newly redesigned Disney Princess Classic 12'' Dolls, called the Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection. The Princess dolls now include the exciting fully articulated legs that were first introduced in the Classic Merida 11'' doll. They have external hinged knee joints and ball/hinge ankle joints that allow much greater poseability of the legs than the previous releases. The collection also includes the Prince dolls and Friends and Villains dolls (which currently includes King Triton, Charlotte, and Mother Gothel), and the Princess accessory (wardrobe) sets.

Each Princess doll has been redesigned, including the face, hairdo, outfit, articulation, and in some cases (apparently) the head mold.

The price of the dolls and accessory packs have increased from $12.50 US to $14.50. However, on June 26, 2012, the Disney Store has all of the dolls and accessory sets in the Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection as part of a 2 for $22 sale.

The 2015 Belle Classic Doll being deboxed. First the back cover is opened up by cutting the seals around the edges. Unlike the Beast box, the tabs are not taped to the backing. So take off the front plastic cover is quick and easy. Belle is attached to the backing by wires, thread and T-tabs. There are two T-tabs tacking her head to the backing.

I received the full set of all the 2015 Classic Princess and Prince dolls on June 29, that were released online on June 22, 2015, on the US Disney Store site. There are 11 Princesses (Snow White through Merida) and 10 Princes (The Prince through Flynn Rider). Elsa, Anna, and the Fairy dolls have not had a 2015 makeover yet. The 2015 version of Classic Hans was released in June 26, but I do not have him yet. I have not seen any of these dolls in stores yet, but they should be in stores by next week.

The Princes have the faces of the Fairytale Designer dolls, which is especially noticeable for the Beast. The Belle doll finally has a widow's peak to match the animated character's hair style. In general, I like the changes in the dolls over last years. Since they have finally changed the Prince dolls, I will buy new Prince dolls for the first time in years. They are also on sale for 2 for $20, along with the classic dolls that have not changed yet (the Frozen dolls and the Fairy dolls).

Can anyone assist with any further information. This photograph has been reproduced from a glass plate negative and taken in the Hunter Region of NSW.

It is most likely he is Ernest Heeger, see RM013, RM023, IMG148, IMG149.

The uniform is Australian and is circa 1910-12. The hat badge is IX which would make this soldier

a member of 9th (Logan & Albert) Infantry from Queensland.

The belt he is wearing is the larger cadet style belt and he is wearing his shirt tucked in. He

may be a cadet. Judging by his youth, this is likely.. He is also wearing the brown boots which

the AIF later wore during 2 World Wars.

Embassy informs about Latvia’s centennial during the EU Open House

On May 12, the Embassy of Latvia offered a chance to learn more about the centennial of Latvia, tourism opportunities, a chance to taste Latvian food and drinks, as well as hear Latvian singing and see Latvian dancing. Singers “Sudrabavots” (Silver Spring) and dancers “Namejs” showcased some of the best traditional Latvian performances during the annual European Union Embassies’ Open House.

More than five thousand visitors could taste Latvian products – chocolate by “Laima”, rye bread by “Black Rooster Foods”, water by “Amrita”, the Riga Black Balsam by “Latvijas Balzāms”, as well as edible chocolate by “Coffee Pixels.” People could also taste Latvian smoked sprats in oil, grey peas with onion and bacon, hemp butter, and long potato chips. Everyone could also pick up free printed materials about Latvian – mostly produced by the Latvian Institute – many asked questions and were interested in visiting Latvia.

EU Open House takes place during the European Cultural Heritage Year and the month of May dedicated to European culture. The focus for the Embassy of Latvia’s program was the country’s centennial.

The Fram was the first ship specially built in Norway for polar research. She was used on three important expeditions: with Fridtjof Nansen on a drift over the Arctic Ocean 1893-96, with Otto Sverdrup to the arctic archipelago west of Greenland – now the Nunavut region of Canada – 1898-1902, and with Roald Amundsen to Antarctica for his South Pole expedition 1910-12. The Fram is now housed and exhibited in the Fram Museum at Bygdøynes, Oslo.

They wrote: "San Francisco Media Co, owner of many newspapers in the Bay Area, is putting a call for artist to “ decorate” their obsolete and misused newspaper stands. Another effort of a corporation to try to “engage” with the local artist community by asking too many things and not offering a decent honorarium.

As many of you know, my collaborator and friend Eliza Barrios and I have been using these structures to deliver messages that question capitalism, unsustainable economy and other social issues. Today we hit Market Street with a few sentences that confront the local corporative power..."

The publisher of the Bay Guardian, Marke Bieschke responded: Hi Paz and everyone involved in this important action: I'm Marke B, the publisher of the Bay Guardian. Although this contest did not originate with us, we were very concerned with the lack of payment for the artists, especially since our mission is to support local artists (as evidenced by our annual GOLDIE Awards and weekly coverage).

I approached SF Media Co. management about it. We will be offering $200 cash plus $50 materials stipend. There will also be a larger prize for the person with the most creative entry, TBD. It turns SF Media Co had always intended to offer prizes, but had not secured a sponsor yet.

There was no malice intended towards participating artists -- the company has always been highly supportive of the arts, in my opinion. SF Media Co. is far from 1% -- it consists of free, community-oriented newspapers that rely completely on advertising. I wish we could pay the contest winners (and all artists) more.

Our deep apologies for any miscommunication.

The End of the "Never-Ending Story"

MOUNT PLEASANT (Dec. 12) -The Holy Door at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Mount Pleasant was opened during Mass today.

On Tuesday, Dec.8, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, inaugurating the Jubilee of Mercy. This weekend, Holy Doors will be opened in dioceses around the world, including the Diocese of Saginaw. Pilgrims will have an opportunity to pass through the Holy Door, thus expressing their willingness to “enter” into the mercy and love of God. There is a Holy Door at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption and at seven designated Sacred Heart Church locations throughout the diocese. The churches are located in different areas of the diocese to encourage all people to make the journey.

In the Diocese of Saginaw, Holy Doors will be opened this weekend (Dec. 12 and 13) at the following churches at the designated times (the Holy Doors will remain open throughout the remainder of the jubilee year) :

• Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw (5:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13. The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, will preside)

• Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, 302 S. Kinney Blvd., Mount Pleasant (5 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Dec. 12)

• Sacred Heart Church, St. Hubert Parish, 311 Whitelam St., Bad Axe (4:30 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Dec. 12)

• Sacred Heart Church, Ss. Francis & Clare Parish, 12157 Church St., Birch Run (4 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Dec. 12)

• Sacred Heart Church, St. Christopher Parish, 140 Atwood St., Caro (5 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Dec. 12)

• Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Parish, 300 N. Silverleaf St., Gladwin (5 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Dec. 12)

• Sacred Heart Church, Prince of Peace Parish, 2510 S. Fraser Rd., Kawkawlin (8:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13)

• Sacred Heart Church, St. John XXIII Parish, 445 S. Midland St., Merrill (9 a.m. Sunday Dec. 13)

The establishment of the Holy Doors traces its roots back to early Christians who used the practice as a public sign of penance before they could return to their faith community. Today, pilgrims who enter through these doors during a Holy Year are making a public acknowledgment of turning away from sin and a recommitment to their faith.

More information about the Year of Mercy and about indulgences can be found at: www.saginaw.org
