Bay Bridge and the Skyline, San Francisco, CA
Please view this LARGE, Flickr does not do justice to panoramic crops.
Shot from Yerba Buena Island, standing almost underneath the Bay Bridge. Getting here is a bit tricky, one that involves a long hike up the hill from the parking area in Treasure Island along the road until you cross the bridge (over the tunnel) and then hike down a steep slope to get under the bridge. From the point I was standing, I could see very less land but lots of ocean, imagine the steepness of the slope :) The intention was to frame the skyline under the bridge, which would not be possible from the parking area or any other easily accessible spots on this island.
I read Jave and Rich's adventure and got an idea about the location from their description. (although my story is not as funny as theirs :) ) But I had not come here with the intention of getting this shot. I would have happily left having captured the bridge on the left and the skyline to the right. Luckily I met Bill Morgan, who had come specifically to get this framing, but did not know how to reach here. Well we struck a deal and off we hiked down to this location.
This was created by stitching two frames captured using my trusted 50mm f/1.8 II, I went for this option instead of one wide angle capture because I wanted the skyline to be prominent along with the bridge. Using a wide angle, I could get all of the Bay Bridge, but the skyline would have been small and insignificant in the distance. Let me know your thoughts!
