The elegant interior of Clydebank Co-op, Chalmers Street, Clydebank. B’ listed, from a time when shops had a bit of style. Designed by Glasgow architects Stewart and Paterson and opened on 31st March 1917 as the Central Drapery and Furnishings Warehouse.
A beautiful library in Oxford or a church in Rome? No, it’s the glorious interior of Clydebank Co-op, Chalmers Street, Clydebank. I posted a view a few months back and got a chance today to take this from the first floor, ‘B’ listed, designed by Stewart and Paterson and opened on 31st March 1917 as the Central Drapery and Furnishings Warehouse. The four storey red sandstone building was 256 feet long and was the biggest building in Clydebank.
