A female Black Darter (Sympetrum danae) basking in the last rays of sun at the end of the day.
One of my first photos with my Canon 5Ds. I was looking for a nice Hawker to photograph, but the cooling north easterly breeze meant it was slim pickings. Tricky lighting to because it was backlit and I'd forgotten my flash to give it a bit of fill in. So I had to do some serious shadow lifting.
