English born Alphonse Berge started life as a window dresser before taking to the stage as 'The Great Drapo' in the early 1920s. His stage act, creating designer dresses on models in less than a minute, was an great success around the world. His act was so popular that he was even asked to create dresses for famous Hollywood stars, like Lana Turner, Lucille Ball and Carole Landis.
