This photo of the ‘drunks’ cell’ at Pyrmont police station was taken by Pix photographer Ray Wolfe while accompanying the police on a regular Friday night patrol of Sydney. When this image was published, the faces of the men were blanked out to preserve their anonymity. The lack of amenities in the cell was justified by the police, who said the men were beyond caring and were fortunate to be under their protection and not lying in the streets.
