Joyce Mercy (Clague) speaking at an Aboriginal-Australian Fellowship conference in Sydney, October 1965.

Organised by the Aboriginal-Australian Fellowship the conference was held in the Building Workers Industrial Union Hall in George Street, over the weekend, 16-17 October 1965. It was a powerful display of unity that helped to raise awareness of Aboriginal peoples' issues. The meeting was particularly focused on conditions in rural areas and reflected a growing movement toward self-determination.
