This is the tip of the Homer Spit, a sliver of land sticking out into Kachemak Bay from Homer, Alaska. The spit is built from this gravel, which looks to me like the debris left behind in the terminal morain as a glacier retreated (in this case probably many thousands of years ago, if that is actually what it is).
