Note the unusual-looking street light. All the street lights in Addis quit working in April 2008, though: the streets are dark at night. It's still perfectly safe to walk around in the dark, though (as long as you take care not to fall into a sewer ditch or stumble on a torn-up sidewalk). Street crime is very rare in this city.
