A relatively uncommon epiphany of the Hindu elephant headed god Ganesh is of him in a standing position. This pot bellied god is usually depicted in a sitting position. And yes, while I share my name Shankar with the other god Shiva you saw earlier, I certainly share the pot belly of Ganesh! This is in the Ganesh Himal museum in Chiang Mai. Locals believe that if you give the statue a bath, then your life will be cleansed too. I am a bit of an agnostic but if you believe in that sort of thing, then whatever rocks your boat!
