小籠包!

our guide in hualien introduced great food, but to me, even anything normal in taiwan should taste good. i love it when people take pride in their culture and food, and my impression is that the locals here certainly do.

these little gems are only 5NT (S$0.22?), bite-size and are just like mini steamed meat-filled buns we see here, exceptional fantastic. they go with a little vinegar which is not common to us, but i love savoury sour anyway. the queue went on and on and the workers kept making and steaming the buns just like an assembly line. amazing ha.

i was surprised that they are called 小籠包 (xiaolongbao) here, and our version of xiaolongbaos are called 汤包 tang bao in taiwan. hope i got the characters right.

so, these are really really good and so cheap but it was kinda stupid we only bought 4 pieces.
