Woodlouse @ 10x

Hi guys !

Here's an interesting stack to say the least.

This is a common Woodlouse you find almost everywhere under plant pots and in moist areas.

They are very photosensitive as you can see their very large compound eyes here and respond randomly to the environment in which they lie. They attempt to keep the water potential outside of their internal environment higher than that inside to ensure their bodies are moist, one to ensure they do not dry out and also I'm guessing it aids in breathing somehow as oxygen diffuses through a moist environment quciker.

This was a massive stack to say the least as the left antennae you see coming through there was sticking out very, very far ! 367 images later I had finished the stack, but it was a very successful one and I got a lot of detail as I used smaller increments than usual to ensure I got everything in sharp focus.

Hope you like this... I'm off out now to find some of those little spring tails that Eddie, some of you may know him, always photographs... and I think it's about time i did a stack of one !

Have a great week all, more odd creatures coming very soon !
