the etching plate

Seldom 2008.

ok.

this is one of my multilayer stencils, converted to a steel etching plate,

it's something that i've been thinking about and brain storming about for a while now.

trying something out of the box, ya know?

i have NO idea if this will work or not. it's definitely taking etching to new places that i'm pretty sure no one has tried haha. let's hope for the best.

instead of a bitumen ground, i'm using spray paint as the ground. the way i'm developing tone and my layers is by the amount of paint i mist onto it. the places on the plate where i have put no paint will come up the darkest - like her jacket and body. the places like the background and the tip of her nose i have put on a nice full coverage of paint, so they will be a pristine white, unbitten by the acid. all the tone inbetween is just varying the amount of mist.

i hope you cats can understand. i'm having trouble explaining haha

***i got all the paint off! had to use some really fine wet and dry sandpaper to polish it back, but it's fine now.**

comments, criticism, thoughts and ideas are more then welcome!

p.s. scratches were unintended when cleaning. but if they do show up on the print which is unlikely, i'll just put a wee bit more acid on just them to cover them up. they aren't really that visible - it's just the shitty flash photo..

yeap yeap
