Geert-Jan van Beijeren Bergen en Henegouwen (1977) received his first piano lessons from Erwin Wiersinga and after completing high school, he studied piano at the conservatory in Groningen with Paul Komen. In January 2002 he successfully graduated. He also studied choral conducting with Louis Buskens at the conservatory in Groningen. Geert-Jan finished his studies in choral conducting in May 2002 by successfully conducting the Requiem of M. Duruflé in a version for soloists, choir, orchestra and organ.
Geert-Jan is conductor of the Dualis chamber choir, chamber choir Cantatrix and Toonkunstkoor Bekker in Groningen. He is regularly invited by various choirs as a guest conductor. He is also a regular jury member at several national and international choral festivals.
With its chamber choir Cantatrix in 2005 he won first prize at the international competition for choirs in Arezzo in the category of mandatory work. In 2007 won Geert-Jan with his choir Cantatrix the first prize in the competition of the Renaissance international competition for choirs in Tours (Fr.). Cantatrix increased in the spring of 2008 her first CD, "Contrasts" on the label Aliud Records.
At the Concorso Polifonico Seghizzi in Gorizia (I) 2009 Geert-Jan was named best conductor of the festival.
In the summer of 2005 was Geert-Jan selected to participate in the Eric Ericson Masterclass with the teachers Simon Halsey (principal conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir) and André Thomas (USA). As a result of this master class was Geert-Jan for the 2006-2007 season appointed assistant conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir (Simon Halsey, chief conductor).
Geert-Jan works regularly as guest conductor with professional ensembles such as the Netherlands Radio Choir, Dutch Chamber Choir and Capella Frisiae and worked in this capacity with famous conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herreweghe, Hartmut Haenchen, Thierry Fischer, Reinbert, Paul Goodwin, Reinhard Goebel and many others.
Last February he conducted the Netherlands Chamberchoir during a tour of 5 concerts in The Netherlands in the program Tour de chansons written by the composer Matthias Kadar.

Nel 2007, con il Chamber Chori Cantatrix, ha vinto il primo premio nel Concorso di Canto Rinascimentale di Tours. Nella primavera del 2008, Cantatrix ha registrato il primo CD “Contrasts” con l’etichetta Aliud Records.
Nel 2009, in occasione del Concorso Polifonico Seghizzi in Gorizia, Geert-Jan è stato nominato miglior direttore del festival.
Nell’estate 2005 è stato selezionato per partecipare all’Eric Ericson Masterclass, con i maestri Simon Halsey (direttore del Netherlands Radio Choir) e André Thomas. In questa occasione è stato nominato assistente direttore del Netherlands Radio Choir.
Geert-Jan ha regolarmente il ruolo di direttore ospite di ensemble come il Netherlands Radio Choir, il Dutch Chamber Choir e il Capella Frisiae e, grazie alle sue capacità, ha collaborato con famosi direttori come Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herreweghe, Hartmut Haenchen, Thierry Fischer, Reinbert, Paul Goodwin, Reinhard Goebel e molti altri.
