The National Cherry Blossom Festival, "Indicator Tree" at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. USA, during the blooming stage known as Puffy White

 

National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. bloom check with "The Indicator Tree" on March 22nd, while the cherry blossom trees that surround the tidal basin were in their second of six stages of blooming called "Florets Visible" which happened on March 17th, National Park Service NPS predicted peak bloom between April 3rd thru 6th. Which would fall in between the April 4th average peak bloom date. Peak Bloom 2013 occurred on April 9th 2013.

 

The indicator tree by the outlet bridge is growing very close and partially growing in the neighboring holly tree. This tree usually blooms a week earlier then the Yoshino flowering Cherry Blossom Trees that surround the Tidal Basin.
