Painted Dunes
Last week I was able to head out with Oregon Photographers Sean Bagshaw and David Cobb. We met a couple of different mornings to go shoot Lassen National Park. It was good times, I even managed to convince them to make my annual sunrise hike up the Cinder Cone with me. Considering how much hiking and climbing those guys do in a year….the hike was anything but difficult for them. I still hate it though…which is why I only do it once or twice a year.
We never had ideal situations for photography, but the light was always nice…and each morning began with a great pink glow over the whole area. I was finally able to head up with a larger lens to work on some detailed shots of the dunes.
It was also a lot of fun to go out with photographers who do stock work. When I was putting my camera away because the light wasn’t ideal…they began grabbing the stock shots of us hiking and things they could use for other projects. It was an idea I hadn’t ever really considered, but realized that I needed to…even if only for documentation purposes.
I’m still trying to get myself mentally prepared for my gallery show this weekend…so if I’m a bit brief in my comments or posts….that’s partially to blame.
It’s also too darn hot to go out and shoot. It’s 107 here today…and my ride has no air conditioning….so needless to say, I don’t leave the house much.
New website updates coming this weekend hopefully.
I just read that ipod touches have access to the internet…and I might buy one of those…SO that means…I might be able to drop a fat tweet on someone.
Workshops are filling up bit by bit…so if you would like the value of learning a lot in an amazing environment with Stephen Oachs and me….then you should probably sign up soon

(You can also check out the photos from previous workshops…which I highly recommend. We‘ve had several students win contests and sell prints of shots they‘ve taken on our workshops.)
