Doorknob from the Great North Bedchamber at Strawberry Hill, Twickenham

Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, was built between 1749 to 1776 for Horace Walpole with Wiliam Robinson, and later James Essex as executive architects. The design was developed by the 'committee of taste', Richard Bentley, John Chute, and Walpole himself. Some of the interiors were designed by Bentley, Chute, and, in the 1760s, by Thomas Pitt (later Lord Camelford), and Robert Adam. The Great North Bedchamber was the responsibility of Chute in 1771-73.
