DIAMOND DUST was a test of use of a heat sink to absorb
the energy of a nuclear explosion in a cavity. Graphite powder was placed around the explosive source, and measurements were made to determine the effectiveness of the heat-sink concept. DIAMOND DUST was conservatively planned, with a cavity probably larger than necessary.
