It's A Long Way Down
This creature is an Ambilobe panther chameleon. Depending on the particular region in which they are found in the tropical forests of north western Madagascar, they greatly vary in colour and pattern. Even within the same region variations can be found. As the name of this chameleon indicates, it is found in the Ambilobe region.
Some of chameleon's peculiar features include: eyes which can rotate, focus and move independently from each other; toes which are fused together, enabling them to grip narrow branches; and exceedingly long tongues, which extend rapidly from their mouths at lightening speeds in order to catch prey.
Males, which can be twice the size of females and more vibrantly coloured, grow as long as 20 inches.
