Mynydd Drws-y-Coed

Nantlle Ridge

I've been waiting for a decent guaranteed dry day to head into Snowdonia and booked the day off work to walk the Nantlle Ridge. When i arrived it was dry but the ridge was covered in cloud, i'd checked the mountain forecast and the cloud was supposed to lift around 1pm, so with fingers crossed i headed up Y Garn.

As i made it to the summit it was still thick cloud, windy and Mynydd Drws-y-Coed was hidden. So i took a break and sheltered in the cairn for a bit. Twenty minutes later, as forecast the clouds cleared up and the peak of Mynydd Drws-y-Coed revealed itself. Such a cool looking mountain and on this occasion i actually managed to reach the peak and continue along the Nantlle Ridge. There was a sketchy bit on Mynydd Drws-y-Coed with a 10ft drop behind me where i had to make my way along a short section holding onto rocks that got my heart rate up. Maybe i'm just not as comfortable scrambling as i used to be but i still enjoyed the walk and didn't see a single person up there :)
