1969 - DC Electric at Oxford Road..
Ex-LMS 1500v DC EMU M28587M at Manchester Oxford Road station, in April 1969.
The units were later designated as 'Class 505', and fitted with more modern Stone Faiveley pantographs, but the service ended in 1971, and the line was converted to 25kV AC operation. Two of the trailer non-driving carriages have been preserved..
The station buildings had been rebuilt in 1960, and constructed of laminated wood - including these unusual canopies - to keep the weight down, as they sit on an old viaduct which would not be able to take the load of a more conventional structure..
Restored from a magenta/cyan colour shifted original..
