Task Force Blaze

Spc. Jesse Quinn, fire team 1 sawer, uses a chainsaw to remove a snag caught in another tree Aug. 20. "We were falling a tree and it got hung up in another tree's branches. It has to be cut down because it is a danger to the other crews working around," he said. Snags present a danger to the firefighting crews working around them because their burned inner structures are unstable and can collapse at any moment.

A note on the sky is that it's actually that color. Edits to this shot were some work on curves, and saturation to 18%; but the smoke hanging over us (from the inversion cloud) gave us a grey-white sky that day (and a lot of days in that area).
