Mountain Vista
I love Yellowstone (who doesn't). On my trip last year in late September my primary objective was exploring the Beartooth Pass and Highway. I made reservations in Red Lodge to spend a couple nights on the other side of the Pass as it was a bit far for sunrise shots as I was staying in West Yellowstone. But alas, not to be. Snowstorms come early here.
Reaching 10,977 feet at Beartooth Pass, and surrounded by 20 mountain peaks that reach over 12,000 feet, the Beartooth Highway crosses some of the most extreme country in the world. The high alpine climate ensures that severe weather conditions occur almost every month of the year. And that it did.
I made it up to Beartooth Lake before being turned around. Here's a view looking south at some of the many mountains that are to the NE of Yellowstone.
I will return......!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
