Moonrise over Lick Observatory

The day before full moon of the Super Blue Moon moon is better for photography because you get the ambient sunset light, so I decided to take the full moon shot one day earlier. The historical Lick Observatory is located high above San Jose, California, and lends itself as the foreground for a full moon shoot. I manually calculated the exact position where to put my tripod – 10 miles (16 km) away from the observatory, so that I could get the full moon rise dead center behind the big dome of the observatory. We had a spare the air alert in the Silicon Valley, so the air was hazy, and had a brown-orange hue.

I processed 51 JPG images into a time-lapse video. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
