Kilcock Ladies GAA 'Santa Dash' 5KM Race and Fun Run 2012
The Kilcock Ladies GAA Santa Dash Christmas 5km Race and Fun Run took place in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 13:00 on Sunday 16th December 2012. This was the first running of this event and overall it was a great success. There was tonnes of Christmas spirit and good cheer! There was also lots and lots of Christmas goodies for the runners afterwards in the GAA Club. Well done to Kilcock Ladies GAA on a superb event.
The race started at Connaught Street, near the Royal Canal, and took in the wellknown local walking route around Laragh (Sli Na Slainte). This route is familiar to many runners as a reverse of the Kilcock AC 5KM held annually every summer. The race was organised to help raise funds for the many ladies teams that the girls from Branganstown continue to field year after year. The Kilcock Ladies are a vital part of the local community and provide football for all age groups in the town. 2012 was a very special year for the Ladies section of Kilcock GAA club as they celebrated the 20th year since their foundation back in 1992.
Overall, over 200 people took part in the run and race. There were many Santas making their way in their red suits, beards, and runners around the 5KM route.
