Forest Games c.1972

Walking through the dense tropical trees and woodlands surrounding Hula, an important coastal village on the southern coast of Papua New Guinea, we are surprised by this group of happy children who seemed come from nowhere to burst onto this sun-filled clearing. I used this image as the basis for an oil painting, my wife's favourite. In order to 'guarantee' it stayed in the family, I put a high price on it when I showed it at a Rabaul (East New Britain) Art Exhibition.

Obviously the price was not sufficiently high because it sold! And I've never been able to even try to paint another one..
