A Weatherill 12H 2-wheel drive loading shovel was introduced for loading washed sand into lorries. The Weatherill 12H was one of the few machines then available with high lift rams.
This purchase was necessitated by the increasing numbers of high sided lorries, many of which brought coal from South Wales to the Peterborough area and took sand back to the various foundries in South Wales.
