Chester Cathedral
Formerly the abbey church of a Benedictine monastery dedicated to St Werburgh, since 1541 it has been the seat of the Bishop of Chester and now dedicated to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The building dates from between 1093 and the early 1500s, although the site may have been used for Christian worship since Roman times.
All the major styles of English medieval architecture, from Norman to Perpendicular, are present in the building.
Chester Cathedral is a Grade I listed building.

Artist's statement:
The Last Supper sculpture was inspired by the painting by Leonardo da Vinci, and completed in December 2019.
My aim was to re-create the painting as an abstract three dimensional form; I wanted to keep the detail to a minimum while retaining all the expression and interaction of the characters.
This sculpture is the third edition, the first two are the same form but with a smooth painted surface. I wanted this sculpture to be finished with a mosaic but not in the conventional way.
It is my intention for the sculpture to do a pilgrimage of the cathedrals and it is a pleasure to start here in Chester.
I realised that a computer keyboard is made up of squares which could be used as tiles. This led me to thinking of the possibilities, the letters, numbers and symbols could be utilised to create further interest and meaning.
I lost count of the number of keyboards used but it will be in excess of 50,000 keys.
The structure is reinforced fibreglass and is: 4m long x 1.8m high x 1.5m deep and weighs approximately 450kg.
It is my hope that the sculpture will be enjoyed by children, adults and theologians."
