Solar Eclipse Toronto 8 April 2024 1442

Played with the image taken at 1442. It's easier to see the eclipse in this one.

In Toronto, the solar eclipse was 99.5% of totality. The clouds moved out for partial then completely obscured for about 20 minutes before and after. Sigh. But I had my eclipse glasses and saw the biggest bite of the sun that I've seen since I was a very young child.

Since my camera is broken, I had only my iPhone 13 Mini. But it caught the colour shifts in the clouds and the partial eclipsed sun before and after peak. It didn't capture the darkness at all; so I photographed the bluebells with a -2.00 exposure adjustment to compensate for the long exposure the iPhone insisted on.

The birds singing changed remarkably from a lot at the start to very little by peak. The air chilled to freezing at peak. The cold dark lasted maybe a minute or two. It brightened quicker than it darkened.
