The Central Bank

Dame Street, Dublin. 1971-8 By Stephenson Gibney + Partners. Like it or lump it, this big, bold and structurally overstated building is the most emphatic twentith century architectual presence in the center of the city. Though much maligned by contemporaries, it has I think gradually made it's way into the public's affection. I reckon it's a shame they added the fence to the forecourt, which destroyed any sense of openness to the public space.
