1705_1382 Female Tree Swallow
Is she blinking or did she lose an eye? I don't know; i suspect the latter. But what I'd really like to know is how did she get her head on backwards?
The nesting cycle here on the northern prairie runs through May and June, and she was busily bringing material to a snug little bird house along the fence line.
This ends the "birds with nesting material" photo set; tomorrow, a chance encounter. Surprises are the best part of any outing.
Photographed on the edge of remote little Val Marie, Saskatchewan (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©2024 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
