Introductory alpine climbing on the Petite Aiguille Verte

by overflow50

Yesterday Alex, Rachel, Georgia and I took the Grands Montets telepherique to the base of the Petite Aiguille Verte so that Georgia and Rachel could get a taste of alpine climbing (without the heavy packs and long walk ins!).

We climbed the ordinary route to the subsidiary summit before rapping off due to time constraints (Alex and Rachel needed to be back in town mid-afternoon to head to Geneva). Lots of fun and some interesting but not too difficult climbing (the ordinary route gets PD while the route up the middle is a grade harder at AD but looks much easier at the moment - less ice and less mixed climbing). As the guide book says "a great summit for the aspiring alpinist".
