The tack line begins at the tack grommet, loops through the lashing holding the mainsheet block to the
boom, then loops around the mast and is tied together on the front of the mast. This holds the corner of the sail tight to the end of the boom and keeps it close to the mast.
The safety downhaul prevents the mast from falling out of the canoe in the event of a capsize.
The foot lacing ends at the small grommet shown.
