8 minutes of Lake Kleifarvatn

Finally there is snow where I live in Iceland. I have been looking forward to do some shooting in the snow.

I drove around some places at Reykjanes and decided to stop at this classic place before heading home. It was an hour or two after sunset but the sky was still blue and the moon was shining. I tried a few shoots shooting at small aperture and high ISO (4000).

At last I wanted one really long exposure so I set the camera to ISO 500, f9 and shot it for 8 minutes. The result amazed my. What the new 5D MKII can produce of details for such a long exposure and at this relative high ISO is stunning. I now can even use use GND´s with those long exposure night shots! That makes a huge difference.

I really like how the motion clouds turned out. The red color on the clouds is not a sunset but the lights of Reykjavík reflecting of high altitude clouds.
