Cider at The Spar ~ McMenamins Oly
Some sweet McMenamin's artwork smiling back at me from the bottom of the glass of their sweet McMenamin's Hard Cider. They don't call it sweet... I do.
Their cider is alright... As most North American Ciders it's too sweet. If I had a 1 to 10 rating system it would be about a 5-5.5. Its got some nice tartness and acidity at times amd I do like how batch to batch its a tad different. That either means they are letting the apples doing their thing or the cider maker is less than consistent. Hey at least I know it is hand crafted.
Anyone that knows me well knows that I make lots of hard cider. This one is a bit too sweet and maybe too heavy... Maybe not. Which is more than I can say about McMenamin's beer. Over the last few years it has tasted like they cut back on the ingredients in the recipes or are watering it down. However you look at it, it is the same thing... Pretty good flavor but aweful weak and watery.
Hey, I criticize because I love. Just about any McMenamin's is a class act and a great place to hang out with an unbeatable amosphere unique to every one. And well hey, they always have guest beers.
