~Anax imperator(♂) 2013~
Finally after years of failing miserably I managed a few decent shots of an Emperor Dragonfly. It was a lovely afternoon at Wilford Claypit and a fair few Dragons were about, but this was the star of the show. I met a couple of fellow Flickr friends (Klythawk and LPJC) who had also ventured over to this charming reserve. Spent ages on the wooden viewing platform trying to photograph these, a lot of it was hoping that stuff would settle within snapping distance.
I had to resort to using my 400mm and a 36mm extension tube, I was also pushing my luck a bit as I was leaning out as far as I could (Over water) in a vain attempt to get closer shots, I would love to get a very close shot one day with my 100mm or 180mm, but to find one would require a lot of luck, I imagine these overnight high up in trees.
Saw a few other species and have included a nicely marked 4 Spotted Chaser in the comments :o)
